I’m so excited to start my new Blog! My new business is underway and the results have been amazing so far. What I hope to do on this Blog every couple of weeks is introduce you to the state-of-the-art services we offer at Bella Dea; various aspects of the Health and Wellness Industry, talk about new technologies, chat about Fun and Fashion… and just make new friends of you all.
Today’s topic is near and dear to my heart and something very important to understand as we age. Let’s talk about supplements and the food we eat and what treatments are available.
#1 Collagen
The bad news is our bodies begin to lose collagen at age 30.
The effects become noticeable after several years. Even though this is a natural process it still stinks, it’s possible to speed it up with UV exposure, pollution, smoking, alcohol, and poor diet.
Boy, they take the fun out of everything. While it’s possible to accelerate collagen loss, it’s also possible to slow it down. Here are a few things I’ve been doing to combat thinning hair, sagging skin, and fine lines and wrinkles.
I use a vanilla-flavored collagen powder from 1st Phorm. It has 5 collagen sources with Dermaval. Dermaval is a new plant-based innovation, that protects our bodies from collagen breakdown and it provides the necessary co-nutrients needed to stimulate collagen production from within. Its also Hydrolyzed which is the most absorbable type of collagen.
These are some foods that destroy collagen.
White rice, white pasta, rice cakes, white bread, and popcorn. Who knew, I love all of them except white bread. Thank goodness for supplements!
Treatments that can help produce collagen, HIFU, (High Intensity Forced Ultrasound) Red Light Therapy, and 40K Cavitation.
#2 Biotin
Biotin is important because it helps metabolize carbohydrates, fats, and amino acids, which are the building blocks of proteins.
Biotin is one of the 8 B-complex vitamins. Like all B-complex vitamins, it has an important role in cell metabolism, energy conversion, and red blood cell production. Biotin is also well known for its beneficial effect on hair, skin, and nail health, and is widely used in cosmetics and shampoos to promote beauty health. Biotin can be obtained via supplements vs food we eat.
I use the Biotin from 1Herbs.com or Nutrafol.com
Foods that contain biotin.
- Cooked eggs
- Oat Wheat Germ
- White Mushrooms
- Spinach
- Milk
- Pork
- Carrots
- Apples
- Tomatoes
- Beef
- Chicken
- Lettuce
#3 Vitamin C
Vitamin C, also known as ascorbic acid, is necessary for all growth, repair, and development of all body tissue. It’s involved in many body functions, including the formation of collagen, absorption of iron, the proper functioning of the immune system, wound healing, and the maintenance of cartilage, bone, and teeth.
I use Skin Ceuticals C E Ferulic serum, this is a topical treatment. Learn more about this product.
Foods that contain vitamin C
- Citrus (oranges, kiwi, lemon, grapefruit)
- Bell peppers.
- Strawberries.
- Tomatoes.
- Cruciferous vegetables (broccoli, Brussels sprouts, cabbage, cauliflower)
- White potatoes.
#4 Glutathione
It’s a powerful antioxidant that’s made in the body’s cells. Its levels decrease as a result of aging, stress, and toxin exposure. Boosting glutathione may provide many health benefits.
To name a few:
- Increases energy
- Slows down the aging process
- Reduces muscle & joint discomfort
- Strengthens the immune system
- Detoxifies the liver & cells
- Improves mental focus & clarity
- Improves the quality of sleep
- Improves your skin
- Athletic performance & recovery
- Regenerating vitamins C and E
- Transporting mercury out of the brain
- Helping the liver and gallbladder deal with fats
I use Neumi Swish and Face Spray because it’s broken down with nano-technology for the best absorption.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read this, I believe knowledge is power. And the power we need to harness is to help our bodies age a gracefully as possible. I always say getting older isn’t for the weak.
Until next time…. Age well!
